  • Beans (name) – These are served as boiled. Sweetened beans you can find in many Japanese desserts like anpan, mohaka, taiyaki etc.
  • Tofu – Tofu restaurants are in abundance in Japan. It is served boiled or fried.
  • Kinpira -Root vegetables like lotus root, carrots, bamboo shoots are cooked and are served in a sauce of soy and mirin.
  • Rice – All the Japanese traditional meals always include a bowl of unadulterated rice. Senbei (rice crackers) are usually served with green tea.
  • Soba and Udon noodles – They are straight and dried noodles. Mostly served in Tsuyu broth made from soy sauce, ginger and wasabi.
  • Umeboshi – It is dried salted pickled plum which helps in digestion.
  • Seasoned cucumber – It is one of the best and popular appetizers or bars food. It is always made fresh.
